Report from the Broughty Athletic

CARNOUSTIE 1

BROUGHTY 2
(F.Smith, Scott)

Broughty left it late away from home against Carnoustie but in the end returned home with a very important 3 points.

Broughty took the lead in the first half when Derryn Kesson slid in Fraser Smith who broke forward from midfield and kept his shot low and hard across the keeper and into the far side of the net.
Broughty created a few more good goal scoring opportunities before half time but failed to find the back of the net and enhance their lead.

As much as Broughty had the best of the first half Carnoustie started the second half well and after some good play down their left hand side Carnoustie switched play and a clever cut back allowed the oncoming midfielder to slot the ball low and hard and level the game up.

Ryan Blair received a second yellow card in the second half, reducing Broughty to 10 men.
Carnoustie threw on another striker and pressed forward for the win.
With less than 10 minutes left Kesson again broke from midfield this time beating 2 men he passed the ball across field to find Marc Scott, he went past his man on the outside and drilled the ball low across the keeper into the corner of the net to make it 2-1.

Definitely a game of 2 halfs if ever there was, but this continues the club's fine start to the season and sets up a big game at home next weekend with Lochee.
