Report from Fauldhouse United

Anyones game!

The East of Scotland cup 1st round came calling to Parkview today against a young Oakley side intent on an upset. Not much in the goalmouth action front from both sides with neither keeper being severely tested. On the half hour mark  Robertson and McQuillan combined with McQuillan shooting weakly at the keeper. Thirty three minutes gone and Oakleys left back Fraser shot in to the side net and that was about it...Half-Time, Fauldhouse United 0 Oakley United 0.

Early in the second half and B.Ross tried his luck with a shot which flew over the crossbar. With just under an hour gone the first goal arrived, as the ball was pinging about the visitors eighteen yard box it fell at the feet of Campbell who turned and fired his shot past keeper Manderson...1-0 the House. Fauldhouse couldn't push on from the opener much to Oakleys credit for not giving up and taking the game to the hosts. A blow with just over ten minutes to go when Manderson in goal injured himself taking a goal kick and had to be stretchered off, replaced by Steele. A one goal lead was always going to be precarious and so it proved when Oakley equalised with five minutes left substitute Watt finding the back of the net...1-1 and so to penalties which were all dispatched cleanly until the tenth one when Murphy for the House dived to his left  to save and put Fauldhouse in to the next round...Final Score, Fauldhouse United 1 Oakley United 1. ( Fauldhouse win 5-4 on pens. )
