First Defeat.
In a game where one goal was always going to decide this match it came in the last ten minutes with a bit of controversy thrown in! In the first minute from a United attack upfield Sauchie broke and when Fauldhouse keeper Murphy rushed out his goal Kelly for the home side chipped the big keeper only to see it sail over the crossbar. B.Ross had a couple of half chances but Sauchie keeper Harkness was up to them. Goalscoring chances were few and far between for both sides as the game past the half hour mark. Sauchie did have the ball in the net ten minutes from the break but it was adjudged to have been offside, as the home side were putting United under a bit of pressure towards the end of the first forty five....Half-time, Sauchie Jnrs. 0 Fauldhouse United 0.
The second half was only minutes old as Campbell went close shooting inches over the crossbar. Probably the best chance for the House so far came on fifty three minutes, striker Aitken was put through in on goal with just the keeper to beat but Harkness got a foot to it deflecting the ball out for a corner. Fauldhouse keeper Murphy stopped a goalbound effort twisting backwards to punch the ball away as it dropped over him and it was cleared to safety just over the hour mark. With eight minutes left as United attacked Sauchie broke down the left and as the House were short of bodies at the back keeper Murphy sprinted out his area and upended Love and was red carded, from the resulting free kick the ball was floated in and Boyle scored at the far post...Sauchie Jnrs. 1 Fauldhouse United 0. The ten men threw everything at Sauchie to try and level but it finished for a Final score, Sauchie Jnrs. 1 Fauldhouse United 0.
