Report from Fauldhouse United

Gowfers pay the Penalty!

After the result in mid-week with Armadale losing resulting in safety in the Superleague for United the edge was taken off this game for the hosts. The football was a bit flat from Fauldhouse in the early stages of the first half. The Gowfers took advantage of that and took the lead quarter of an hour in Simpson put in a great cross which was nodded in at the far post, Fauldhouse United 0 Carnoustie Panmure 1. The rest of the first forty-five was played out with just one or two decent chances between the sides with the Gowfers the slightly better team going in at the break, Half-Time, Fauldhouse United 0 Carnoustie Panmure 1.

Poor defending ten minutes in The Gowfers doubled their lead, a mistake in the penalty area and the ball fell nicely to the forwards feet and he made no mistake in blasting home, Fauldhouse United 0 Carnoustie Panmure 2. The House woke up after that and Brian Ross started to give the visitors defence a torrid time down the right wing and the chances started mounting up for United. Centre McQuillan was put through in on goal only to be poleaxed in the box...penalty! Jamie Robertson stepped up and gave the keeper no chance 2-1. Carnoustie had the ball in the net minutes later only for it to be ruled out for offside, that seemed to knock the stuffing out the visitors and The Gowfers for the first time in the match started to flap a bit as the House pressed for the equaliser. Going in to the closing stages another penalty for the home side when Lawson was clipped in the area and again Robertson tucked it away for 2-2. With only minutes left on the clock a great run from B.Ross played in substitute Love and his square ball landed at the feet of Donnelly to tap in from a couple of yards, 3-2. That proved to be the winner as time ran out for The Gowfers, they went down to ten men after a clash with the United goalie and it was all over. Final score, Fauldhouse United 3 Carnoustie Panmure 2

A bit flat to start with from The House, a combination of being idle for a fortnight and no fear of being relegated.

Fauldhouse United: Murphy, Robertson, Smith, K.Ross, Lawson, Campbell, Fallon, Browne, McQuillan,Donnelly, B.Ross. Subs: Peace(gk), Deans, Love.
