Report from Fauldhouse United

Not at the Races!

The Scottish Cup finalists came knocking at the House and were promptly shown the door! After last weekends semi final win Musselburgh looked in no mood to take their foot off the gas as they pegged in United early on and it paid off after only five minutes when stand in keeper for the House Callum Peace parried a fierce shot from Sheerin only for it to fall to at the feet of Hunter to stab home ... 1-0 Mussy.  Sheerin for the visitors had another shot which keeper Peace gathered safetly. First to show for United was Brian Ross with a shot that Adams saved on sixteen minutes. Musselburgh were first to everything with Fauldhouse finding it hard to get a hold on the game. Turner for the visitors had Peace bringing off a fine one handed save to push the ball away and out of trouble as United held on at the half hour mark. From a rare attack into the Mussy half came the equaliser, Deans raced down the right wing and floated in a cross for Brian Ross to head flick on to Andy McQuillan who made no mistake in tucking it under Adams, 1-1 five minutes from the break. Half time Fauldhouse United 1 Musselburgh Athletic 1.

Manager Davey Cowans team talk obviously worked as the roles were reversed, four minutes in Brian Ross was put through in on goal and calmly put his shot past Adams to go in front 2-1 United. Clark Campbell was running the show now and it was the visitors turn to be on the back foot with their defence in disarray as young Ross and centre McQuillan were giving them a torrid time. Twenty minutes in United got a warning when Sheerin was right through in goal but his effort was well wide and Hunter headed over the bar shortly after. Fauldhouse made a couple of changes, Deans coming off with a knock to be replaced by Mark Wilkins and McQuillan who had ran his socks off all game making way for Jamie Robertson. Campbell was getting his eye in for what was to come as he tested Adams with a shot which the keeper caught just under the bar. From a great one-two move involving Browne and Smith, Browne eventually passed to Clark Campbell on the edge of the eighteen yard box and he made no mistake this time to thunder his shot passed the helpless Adams, 3-1 on seventy nine minutes. Fauldhouse played out the last ten minutes mostly in the visitors half and the game ended...Fauldhouse United 3 Musselburgh Athletic 1.
