Report from the Fauldhouse United

Good Show

The game went ahead in sub-zero temperatures at Prestonfield and only after three minutes a move involving Clark Campbell and Jamie Robertson saw Brian Ross finally receiving the ball but his shot went agonisingly inches by the post. With four first team regulars out Fauldhouse were competing well with the Rose and the pace of Robertson and B. Ross was unsettling the Lithgae defence with Clark Campbell a workhorse in midfield. The closest the Rose got was mid-way through the first half, Coyne tested Andy Murphy with a shot and a couple of minutes later Smith was also unlucky with an attempt on goal. As the half wore on neither keeper were being over worked... Half time Linlithgow Rose 0 Fauldhouse United 0.

Linlithgow came out sharp early on, a mazy run from McLennan saw him burst through the middle and into the box with only a great smother from Murphy at the number elevens feet saving a certain goal. The House replied five minutes later Campbell put in Michael Gibson and his shot from just inside the box went inches by. On the fifty third minute the breakthrough came for the home side, Smith for the Rose turned a Fauldhouse defender on the 18yard line and fired his shot home....Linlithgow 1 Fauldhouse 0. Linlithgow were seeing more of the ball second half and the House had to be content with the odd breakaway. A blow for Fauldhouse just under an hour on the clock with Captain Kevin Ross leaving the field injured being replaced by Jamie Gallagher. A couple of minutes later when United were still sorting out their defence, Coyne scored from a knock down at a corner kick for 2-0. Jamie Robertson had a shot cleared off the line late on in the game but he was rewarded with four minutes to go scoring the best goal of the match after a fine move to curl the ball passed Christie, and that's how it finished Full time Linlithgow Rose 2 Fauldhouse United 1.

Fauldhouse showed up well and the quality in the finishing was the difference between the two sides, the new signings are fitting in well and it's beginning to look promising again.
