Report from the Fauldhouse United

Below par at Carnoustie

A crucial game for both clubs going into today's match with only two point's separating the sides. Carnoustie were first to show with a shot hitting the post after only five minutes and another shot by Roberts saved by Andy Murphy in the united goal. Jamie Robertson was getting a lot of the ball teasing the Panmure defence with some good crosses. The first real chance came on fifteen minutes when a free kick chipped towards goal was punched out to Sam Scott on the edge of the eighteen yard box and his floated lob smacked against the bar and cleared. It was end to end up till now with Fauldhouse beginning to have the edge winning more than a few corners. The first goal came on the half hour with the Gowfers on the break, a long ball played into the area caused a defensive blunder and MacIlravey was first to react and blast home ... Carnoustie 1 Fauldhouse 0. Ten minutes later it could have been two from a soft penalty awarded to the home side but Simpson blootered it high over the bar. Just before the break MacIlravey got his and Carnousties second, half time Carnoustie 2 Fauldhouse 0.

The second half got under way with the Gowfers content to sit on their lead and hit on the break as United were making no inroads on the home goal. With an hour on the clock Robertson for the hosts headed narrowly over the bar with Fauldhouse pushing further up field for the last quarter of an hour. A 50/50 ball with Kevin Ross going in on the keeper was deemed a booking and Kev was yellow carded for the second time and off, a harsh decision. With nine minutes to go a long ball forward found Mark Wilkins who tucked it by the onrushing keeper... Carnoustie 2 Fauldhouse 1 and cue an onslaught on the home goal. Fauldhouse had the ball in the net minutes later but it was controversially ruled out by the ref for an allegedly hand ball and from the aftermath Gary Fallon and Mark Wilkins got straight red cards for decent, the game came to a finish a few minutes later final score Carnoustie Panmure 2 Fauldhouse United 1.

United in freefall at the moment and just can't get that elusive win to kick us on.
