Penicuik 1 Kelty 4

Kelty were the first to threaten in the 4th minute when McCabe had an opportunity to score, but slipped as he struck the ball and it flew high over the bar. Penicuik replied immediately but the dangerous cross into the heart of the six yard box was well cut out by keeper Allison. The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute when Duffin cut out a Jancyzk pass and set up CARGILL who drove in on goal slotting the ball past Bejaoui at his near post. In the 23rd minute keeper Allison had to be alert to cut out another dangerous Gay cross from the right wing. One minute later the game was all square when McCulloch started a great move through the midfield playing a one two with the Penicuik trialist striker. McCulloch the laid the ball back to the TRIALIST who blasted the ball past Allison into the roof of the net. From the restart, Kelty went straight up the park and restored their lead with a stunning strike by LAWRIE that hit the back of the net before Bejaoui could blink. Kelty continued to press and were rewarded with a third goal in the 43rd minute when CARGILL volley home off a corner kick.

Half Time: Penicuik 1 Kelty 3

Four minutes into the half and a dazzling run by Gay past four defenders saw him lay the ball off but net bound shot was deflected over the bar for a corner. Penicuik had upped the pace of their game and were applying considerable pressure on the visitors. In the 54th minute The Penicuik trialist did well to shield the ball holding off his marker before turning quickly and shooting, but his effort went just wide of the upright. Then, four minutes later, a long range effort by Jancyzk went inches past Allison’s left hand post. In the 59th minute, after sustained pressure by Penicuik, Kelty broke quickly from defence and Lawrie sent over a cross to the back post where Cargill headed the ball into the path of GREIG who saw his shot blocked by Bejaoui, but the keeper could only watch as the ball trickled over the line off the post. Minutes later, Bejaoui was again in action saving a Kelty free kick. In the 74th minute, Ross showed great skills in beating two defenders to send over a great cross into the Kelty box where McCulloch rose above the defence but his powerful header missed the target. Kelty comfortably saw out the remainder of the game and were worthy winners.
