Report from Fauldhouse United

Mariners Sunk Without a Trace

A tribute to our President Peter Lynch who passed away recently was met by a minute's applause and started our first Superleague game at Parkview. Fauldhouse showed they were not in awe of their opponents with Mark Wilkins firing a shot over the bar in only four minutes. Shortly after McLaren in the away goal got his foot to a Ross Donnelly shot and cleared. Sam Scott went on a mazy run on eighteen minutes but ran out of steam as he was bearing down on goal. Wright was Camelon's best player at this point and was unlucky when his shot just went inches wide. Fauldhouse took the lead on twenty one minutes when Mark Wilkins finished off a good passing move and showed good composure to place the ball pass the keeper .... Fauldhouse 1 Camelon 0. Camelons best efforts were on the break but United's defence kept them at bay, half time Fauldhouse 1 Camelon 0.

Same start as the first with Fauldhouse on the attack and Jamie Robertson rattling the post early on. Fauldhouse were looking good to increase their lead with good raids down the right wing and Jamie Robertson in particular causing the Camelon defence all sorts of problems. On the hour mark the second goal duly arrived when Ross Donnelly was poleaxed in the box and a penalty awarded, up stepped captain Clark Campbell and netted from the spot ... Fauldhouse 2 Camelon 0. United increased the lead on seventy three minutes when sub Craig Chilton got his pass in behind the Camelon defence and found Mark Wilkins, he scored his second and United's third game over! With only ten minutes left on the clock Jamie Robertson rounded off a good display with a pinpoint cross and big Jamie Gallagher got his head to it giving the keeper no chance, 4-0. Full time score Fauldhouse United 4 Camelon Junior 0.

A great performance from everyone but a special mention for Mark Wilkins who following on from mid-week put in a tireless display and stole the show, early days but looking good at this stage, keep it up.
