Report from the Fauldhouse United

Point Proved

History in the making as Fauldhouse United took to the field against Broxburn Athletic at Albyn Park in the East Superleague for the first time. United were lively early on with three corner kicks in the first five minutes and only a great save from ex Fauldhouse keeper Gary Maley prevented United from taking the lead as he tipped it round the post. Just as "The House" were settling in to some kind of rhythm, on twelve minutes Broxburn on their first attack scored a curling shot finding its way past Murphy in goal....Broxburn 1 Fauldhouse 0. A half chance eight minutes later when the ball came off a Broxburn defender and Jordon Love was first to react but shot wide of the post. Broxburn replied with a rasping shot just over the bar as they started to take a grip of the game. The game was end to end with both teams having chances but with no more scoring both sides went in at the break with a 1-0 advantage for the home side. Half-time, Broxburn Athletic 1 Fauldhouse United 0.

Fauldhouse were on the back foot early on as Broxburn tried to increase their lead, a scramble in the box led to Jamie Gallagher clearing the danger. Ross Donnelly was unlucky not to equalise when his shot caught out Maley who could only parry it away. New signings Hugh Kelly and Jamie Robertson came on late in the second half and both made an immediate impact especially Jamie whose pace caused the Broxy defence all sorts of problems. Just as time was running out and it seemed Uniteds efforts were all in vain another sub Craig Chilton played in Jamie Robertson who cut inside the 18yd box and picked out Jordon Love and the striker flicked it by Gary Maley..... 1-1 and no more than Fauldhouse deserved at a park that not a lot of teams will pick up many points. Final score, Broxburn Athletic 1 Fauldhouse United 1.

So an impressive debut in the Superleague and lets hope we can continue and progress sitting at the top table with the big boys.
