Report from the Dundonald Bluebell

South League

Haddington  3  -   Dundonald  1

                             Morrison

Dundonald traveled to a windy Haddington hoping to bounce back from last weeks defeat. The visitors won the toss and elected to play against the strong wind. Dundonald started well and took the game to Haddington Young forced a corner after he was put through by Morrison and Scott Main saw his header go just over. A mistake by McCreadie gave Haddington their first chance and they took full advantage  his pass back was short and it allowed the striker to round Lennox, in the Dundonald goal, and score.

The home side took confidence from the goal and started to put Dundonald under pressure. Goalkeeper Lennox was forced to turn a free kick round the post and he made another fine save after Duffy lost possession in midfield. Five minutes before half time the visitors were reduced to ten men when Ross Graham was judged to be the last man after he collided with the Haddington forward.

With the wind at their backs Dundonald made a good start to the second half. Morrison had the first chance after he was played in by Lally but the striker cut inside when he should have shot. Carr was unlucky with a header that went just wide. The visitors pressure paid off when Duffy pass found Morrison and the striker rounded the keeper to score. The home side regained their lead when a cross from the right was headed into the net with Dundonald claiming offside but the goal stood. The visitors thought they had drew level when the Haddingon keepers clearance fell to Morrison but his effort was headed off the line. Dundonald had Lennox to thank again when he produced a great save after Haddington had carved open the visitors defense. The visitors had a strong penalty claim turned down when Wallace's  goal bound shot hit the defenders hand but the referee said no. With Dundonald looking for a equalizer haddington broke away and after some nice play clipped the ball into the net.

The strong wind made it very difficult to play good football and then being reduced to ten men meant it was always going to be hard to get a win at Haddington but with two consecitive away defeats and some players losing their form the management team have to get the team back on track quickly if they want to gain promotion and win the league.
